โครงเรื่อง: คำสอน ๖ ประการในเรื่องของผู้ปฏิบัติตามคำสั่งสอน

The 6 teachings about the doers of the word:

1. แต่จงเป็นผู้ประพฤติตามพระวจนะ ไม่ใช่เป็นเพียงผู้ฟังเท่านั้น มิฉะนั้นจะเป็นการหลอกตัวเอง (๒๒)

But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers who deceive themselves. (22)

2. พราะถ้าใครเป็นเพียงผู้ฟังพระวจนะและไม่ใช่ผู้ประพฤติตาม ผู้นั้นก็เป็นเหมือนคนที่ดูหน้าของตนเองในกระจกเงา (๒๓)

For if any are hearers of the word and not doers, they are like those who look at themselves in a mirror. (23)

3. เพราะว่าเมื่อเห็นแล้วก็จากไป และลืมในทันทีว่าตนเองเป็นอย่างไร (๒๔)

For they look at themselves and, on going away, immediately forget what they were like. (24)

4. แต่ แต่ผู้ที่พินิจพิจารณาธรรมบัญญัติอันสมบูรณ์แบบซึ่งเป็นธรรมบัญญัติแห่งเสรีภาพและตั้งมั่นในธรรมบัญญัตินั้น ไม่ได้เป็นผู้ที่ฟังแล้วก็ลืม แต่เป็นผู้ที่ประพฤติตาม ผู้นั้นจะได้รับความสุขในการประพฤติของตน (๒๕)

But those who look into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and persevere, being not hearers who forget but doers who act—they will be blessed in their doing. (25) 

5. ถ้าใครคิดว่าตัวเองเป็นคนมีธรรมะแต่ไม่ได้ควบคุมลิ้นของตน เขาก็หลอกลวงจิตใจของตนเอง และธรรมะของคนนั้นก็ไม่มีประโยชน์ (๒)

If any think they are religious, and do not bridle their tongues but deceive their hearts, their religion is worthless.  (26)

6. ธรรมะที่บริสุทธิ์ไร้มลทินเฉพาะพระพักตร์พระเจ้าพระบิดานั้น คือการช่วยเหลือเด็กกำพร้าและหญิงม่ายที่มีความทุกข์ร้อน และการรักษาตัวให้พ้นจากราคีของโลก

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.(27)
