Joseph had 5 special characteristics:

1)เขาเป็นคนมีธรรมะ (๑๙)
He was a just man. (19)

2)ไม่พอใจที่จะแพร่งพรายความเป็นไปของมารีย์ (๑๙)
He was unwilling to put her to shame. (19)

3)หมายที่จะถอนหมั้นอย่างลับ ๆ (๑๙)
He resolved to divorce her quietly. (19)

4)โยเซฟทำตามคำซึ่งทูตของพระเจ้าสั่ง (๒๔)
He did as the angel of the Lord commanded him. (24)

5)ไม่ได้สมสู่กับเธอจะประสูติบุตรชายแล้ว (๒๕)
He knew her not until she had borne a son. (25)
